The first step is to get them on your calendar. Here are some I try to visit in the southern Maine circuit.
Freeport Ski Boosters - This swap is happening this Saturday October 29th at Freeport Ski and Bike - Route 1 in Freeport. Benefits the Freeport Schools ski teams. Both my boys ski on these teams so this is a good one to hit up! We had a very good turnout last year and are looking for more of the same this year. Those of you on facebook can see more details here:
UPDATE - We had a great ski swap. Thanks to everyone that participated! See below for other upcoming swaps.
Brunswick Parks and Rec - This is a good one happening on November 6th and I have gotten a lot of good gear here. More info here.
Auburn Ski Association - Benefits the Auburn school ski teams. Looks like a good one on November 13! More info here.
Mt. Abram Ski Club is also having a ski swap on November 13. Here is a link to a poster image for more info.
Camden Hills Ski Sale - Benefits the Camden Hills Regional Schools Ski Teams. November 19 and 20! More info here.
Yarmouth Ski Club - They usually put on a good ski swap Mid-November. From what I can tell from the folks at MaineThingsToDo.com it is going to be 9AM to Noon on November 19th.
Downeast Ski Club - This is a good one that is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This timing works for most folks, but I like to have all my gear ready to go by Thanksgiving because by mid-November I am in blizzard watch mode and I want to be ready! More info here.
Falmouth Ski Team is having a Ski and Snowboard Sale and Swap, Sunday Dec. 4 from 12-3 pm, at Falmouth Middle School. I have not been to this one but any swap benefiting a school ski team has to be good! mainehighschoolskiing.com has a notice with more info.
NEW POST - Greely Ski Sale is happening December 3rd 9am to 1pm at Greely High School in Cumberland. Here is a link to a flyer at mainehighschoolskiing.com with more info.
While not in southern Maine, CVA up by Sugarloaf has a very good swap Columbus Day weekend in October. Lots of good race gear at this one. Good one to hit up if you have racers in your family.
In a post later this week I will discuss ski swap buying strategies. They can be pretty intimidating to the first-time buyer as it was for us 5 years ago!
If you have a swap you like to visit feel free to comment:
